Hi! My name is Megan. I was born and raised in the small town of Waterford, Ontario. I am an early childhood educator-fulltime. In my spare time I like to travel and spend time with my family. However, spending time with my family while travelling is my ultimate goal!
One of my most favourite travel spots was
when I visited Cancun, Mexico with many friends!
I would describe Cancun as being the perfect spot to getaway with friends. It
has everything you need from good food, nice hotel, adventure, peace and quiet,
beaches, and amazing nightlife! Cancun was absolutely beautiful. They had three
swim-up bars, a few dining choices, private beach area, three swimming pools,
many activities on the resort as well as off the resort. We did a pontoon boat excursion
and we took the shuttle bus into the Mexico City to all different nightlife
destination such as; senior frogs and bulldogs café. Most of these night life
experiences were club scenes.
The best mode of travel is by plane. When I travelled, we had a stopover so it took us about six and a half hours to get there. Most non-stop flights will only take about four and a half hours to get there by plane. After doing some research, if someone wanted to drive there, it would take 35 hours.
While we stayed at a resort in Cancun and ate most of the food there. However, we did travel to Mexico City in the evenings to experience more cultural restaurants. One of our favourite places that we ate at was called Sonora Grill. It was a beautifully decorated restaurant with a great menu!
There are many places to see in Mexico. Now that I am a few years older with a family of my own, I have learned to really appreciate the history many countries have to offer. I would still like to visit these fascinating places in Mexico: Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, Great Pyramid of Cholula, Uxmal, El Tajin, San Ignacio Lagoon, Acapulco Cliff Divers, Copper Canyon, and Teotihuacan. Many of these places offer pyramids to see, popular beaches, temples, archeology sites, whale watching, and festivals.
The shopping experience in Mexico offers many hand-made pieces. I bought a beautiful hand-made picture frame when we stopped at a nearby town off of our boat excursion. There were also many jewellery places and Mexican art! Some shopping I would still like to experience are some of the markets such as: La Lagunilla Market. Paseo de la Reforma is supposed to be great luxury shopping, and Ambarte offers stunning Mexican jewellery.
Some packing tip essentials are: Sunhats, Sunscreen, Dry bags (to take on the beach), sunglasses, day trip bags, cross-body bags for leaving the resort, many short outfits to keep you cool, bathing suits, some pant outfits for the evenings (some nights may be cooler), dresses for the beach or going out, sandals, water shoes, and an underwater camera for snorkeling and scuba diving.
